Second day Rosh Hashana – Experiential: Musical prayers, chanting, movement, Shofar and Teshuva processes.
A prayer that will combine, as is our custom, the traditional prayer form (Ashkenazi) with piyyutim from Eastern and Western denominations, with Israeli poetry and melodies from Nava Tehila's own studio. And of course, personal and group processes of forgiveness, atonement, and atonement. Without musical instruments, the prayer will last until approximately 9:00 PM.
A combination of the traditional version, original melodies by Nava Tehila, piyyutim and poetry. The fast ends at 7:01 PM, please bring food and drink to break the fast.
Join us for a meaningfull musical celebration of Simchat Torah. Creative musical Hallel and special kabbalstic Hakafot, Kiddush, Group Aliyot , Rolling the Book Open, Torah–Tarot a-la Reb Zalman, The Prayer for Rain, and more! Please bring food and drinks for Kiddush, and Talitot or thin scarves (like silk) to hold the Torah with.
We will gather for first S'lichot on Saturday Night before Rosh Hashanah according to Ashkenazi custom (S'faradi Jews start on Rosh Chodesh Elul). S'lichot are a cycle of prayers that rotate btween chanting piyuttim to awaken our hearts and chnating the thirteen Divine attributes that open the gates of mercy. We use our own blend of Ashkenazi and S'faradi piyuttim, our own chants and internal processes. The entrance is free.

As promised, we are beginning to experiment with creating new prayer experiences at Nava Tehila. You are invited to join us this coming Sunday for an Evening Hallel circle in honor of Rosh Chodesh Iyar, the month of healing. Rabbi Nava, who is visiting Israel from her shlichut in Toronto, together with Dov and Levites Leah, Talia and Julia, will lead an intimate circle of song, prayer and intention. Tomorrow, Friday, July 19 at 4:30 pm we will be part of a special event at the First Station - Kabbalat Shabbat celebrating the retirement of Shaike El Ami, the initiators of these Kabbalot Shabbat. We at Nava Tehila were part of this endeavor from its inception, and we will join friends: Musicans and presenters to offer a musical tefila of many traditions. Rabbi Ruth and Ayelet will be representing Nava Tehila with Oseh Shalom (of course) and we will be part of the blessers and other groups music. We will be so happy to see you all.
